DJing

MW has always been a record geek, collecting records since the second grade when he found a box of 45s in a neighborhood dumpster. Over the last couple of decades he has worked at some of the very best record stores on the west coast — ‘Amoeba Hollywood’, ‘Atomic’ in Burbank, ‘Top Shelf’ in Hollywood and ‘Easy Street’ in West Seattle. Since the early/mid 90s, Whitmore has also been DJing, spinning mostly vinyl for parties, weddings, art openings and a wide variety of special events. In LA he used to spin regularly at Spaceland, Amoeba Records, and a variety of other clubs, bars and restaurants. Up in the great northwest, for five years he co-ran the very successful dance club, Club O on Vashon Island in Washington. And in Seattle he has DJed many a party or private events including two after parties for Anthony Bourdain’s sold out-talks the last two years before his death. And since 2015, Whitmore has hosted a morning radio show on local KVSH 101.9FM on Vashon Island, WA.

Musically, Whitmore specializes in soul, r&b, old skool hiphop, jazz, latin jazz/salsa and sixties psychedelia. Then again, he can spin most any genre that might come to mind, having amassed many thousands of records in his collection.

Always up for a party.
